ADULT WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Medical Weight Loss in Tiruppur

Obesity is a long-term condition in which excess body fat can affect overall health and increase the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other health problems.

For Indians, a BMI of 23 to 24.9 is overweight, and 25 or above is obesity. A waist of 90 cm or more in men, or 80 cm or more in women, raises health risk even at a normal BMI.

At our weight loss clinic, Dr. Tushyanth V looks at your weight history, other illnesses, daily routine and the medicines you take, since some, such as steroids and some diabetes medicines, can cause weight gain.

Care includes:

BMI and waist check
Sugar, thyroid and liver tests
Personal diet plan
Activity plan
Weight-loss medicines when suitable
Regular follow-up

YOUR VISITS

How Weight Loss Treatment Works Here

From your first visit to a steady weight, here is what to expect.

01

Your first visit

We ask when the weight gain started, what you eat on a normal day, your sleep, work hours and medicines, and check weight, waist and BP.

02

Tests on the same day

Fasting sugar, HbA1c, cholesterol, liver and kidney tests and TSH, with an ultrasound for fatty liver or hormone tests only when needed.

03

Your treatment plan

Diet and activity changes come first for everyone. Medicines are added only when your BMI and health problems meet the medical criteria.

04

Regular follow-up

Weekly visits while medicines are started and doses adjusted, then less often on a steady dose. Weight, waist and BP are checked each visit.

ABOUT THE PHYSICIAN

Weight Loss Care with Dr. Tushyanth V

MBBS, MD(General Medicine)
TNMC Reg. No.141260

Dr. Tushyanth V treats obesity as a medical condition, first looking for causes such as thyroid problems, PCOS, sleep apnoea or medicines that add weight.

He starts with diet and activity changes, adds weight-loss medicines only when they suit you, and plans how to keep the weight off from the first visit.

He also checks for thyroid problems, PCOS and sleep apnoea when the signs are there, since these can make it harder to lose weight until they are treated.

WEIGHT LOSS FAQS

Weight Loss Questions Answered

Do I need an appointment?

Booking is better, as the first visit takes longer. If you can, come without breakfast so fasting tests can be done the same day. If you take diabetes medicines, ask us before fasting. Fasting samples can be given from 7 AM, so most results are ready for the morning consultation.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Recent blood reports, your prescriptions, and a list of everything you take, including Ayurveda, Siddha or other supplements. Bring old weight records if you have them.

Do you prescribe weight-loss injections like semaglutide or tirzepatide?

Yes, after an evaluation, if they are suitable for you. They are given once a week, starting at a low dose. Nausea, less appetite and constipation are common in the first few weeks and usually settle. They are not used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and should be stopped at least two months before a planned pregnancy. They are also not used if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2. Gallstones and pancreatitis are uncommon but important side effects.

Who can take weight-loss medicines?

Medicines are considered for adults whose BMI and weight-related health problems make the benefit worth the side effects. Dr. Tushyanth explains the criteria and the options at your visit. Diet and activity changes continue alongside any medicine.

What happens if I stop the injections?

Most people regain some weight after stopping. That is why we plan diet, activity and a maintenance phase from the start, and reduce the dose slowly where possible.

Do you refer for bariatric surgery?

Yes. When medicines and diet are not enough and surgery is medically needed, we refer you to a bariatric surgeon.

How often do I need a follow-up?

Every week while medicines are started or adjusted, then less often once your dose is steady.
