ADULT DIABETES MANAGEMENT
Diabetes Treatment in Tiruppur
Diabetes is a long-term condition in which blood glucose levels remain higher than normal because the body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use insulin effectively.
At our diabetes clinic, Dr. Tushyanth V plans your treatment after looking at your sugar readings, HbA1c, weight, other illnesses and the medicines you already take.
Care includes:
TYPES & COMPLICATIONS
Types of Diabetes We Treat
The type of diabetes and how long you have had it decide the treatment.
SYMPTOMS & EVALUATION
Signs Your Sugar May Be High
Type 2 diabetes often has no symptoms at first. Get your sugar tested if you notice:
Frequent urination
Increased thirst
Increased hunger
Unexplained weight loss
Persistent tiredness
Blurred vision
Slow-healing wounds
Tingling or numbness in the feet
When else should you get tested?
Get tested even without symptoms if you are 30 or older, overweight, have a parent or sibling with diabetes, had diabetes in pregnancy, or have high BP or PCOS. If you already have diabetes, come in when your readings stay above the target agreed with your doctor.
YOUR VISITS
How Diabetes Is Treated Here
From your first visit to regular follow-up, here is what to expect.
Your first visit
We ask about your symptoms, family history, food habits, work hours and medicines, and look at your old reports and sugar records.
Tests on the same day
Fasting and post-meal sugar, HbA1c, kidney function, urine albumin and cholesterol, with an ECG if needed. Most results come the same day.
Your treatment plan
Diet and activity changes start for everyone, and most people also start a tablet. For most adults the target is an HbA1c below 7%.
Regular follow-up
HbA1c every 3 months until it reaches target, then every 6 months. Kidneys and feet are checked every year, and eyes by referral.
DIABETES SERVICES
Diabetes Services at Viva Hospital
14-Day Sugar Sensor (CGM)
A small sensor on the upper arm checks your sugar day and night for 14 days. The report shows highs and lows that finger-prick tests can miss.
Diabetic Foot Screening
Once a year, we test the feeling in your feet and check blood flow with a Doppler. This finds nerve or blood vessel damage before a wound forms.
Starting Insulin
If you need insulin, we teach you to use the pen, where to inject, how to store it and what to do for a low sugar, and check your readings often.
Type 2 Diabetes Remission
For some people with type 2 diabetes and extra weight, losing weight can bring sugar to normal without medicines. This is remission, not a cure.

ABOUT THE PHYSICIAN
Diabetes Care with Dr. Tushyanth V
Most of Dr. Tushyanth V's patients come for diabetes, from newly found high sugar to long-standing diabetes with kidney or nerve problems.
With tests, medicines and follow-up in one place, Viva Hospital works as a diabetic centre for Tiruppur. He plans treatment around each patient's work hours and home food, and reviews progress with HbA1c every three months until the target is reached.
Sugar, HbA1c and kidney tests are done in the hospital's own lab, and your medicines are available at the pharmacy on site, so most visits are done in one trip.
Diabetes Questions Answered
Do I need an appointment?
Booking is better, as the first visit takes longer. If you take insulin or sugar tablets, call us before coming fasting, because we may ask you to bring breakfast to eat after the sample. Fasting samples can be given from 7 AM, so most results are ready for the morning consultation.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring all recent reports, your prescriptions or medicine strips, your glucometer or sugar diary, and your insulin pens if you use them.
Which tests are done for diabetes?
Fasting and post-meal sugar, HbA1c, creatinine, urine albumin and a lipid profile, with thyroid and liver tests when needed. Most results are ready the same day.
How often do I need a follow-up?
Every 1 to 3 months while we adjust your treatment, then every 3 to 6 months once your HbA1c is at target.
Does everyone with diabetes need insulin?
No. Most people with type 2 diabetes are treated with tablets for years. Insulin is needed in type 1 diabetes, often in pregnancy, and when tablets no longer control sugar.
Can type 2 diabetes go into remission?
In some people, losing a good amount of weight early on brings sugar back to normal without medicines. This is remission, not a cure, so regular checks continue and medicines are reduced only under supervision.
Do I need a sugar sensor (CGM)?
It is most useful if you take insulin, get frequent low sugars, or your HbA1c doesn't match your home readings. Many people on tablets don't need one.
